Blog Post: Day 32 – Navigating the Analytics Maze
Share
Today, Google Analytics decided to call me out. Turns out, not all of my products are indexed properly—which, for anyone hoping their creations get discovered by eager shoppers, is a pretty big deal. It’s like opening a beautiful boutique but forgetting to unlock the door.
The bright side? I’ve found a potential fix: exporting a CSV of my product catalog so I can make bulk edits. The not-so-bright side? I have no clue if I’ll accidentally break the site in the process. (Not literally break it, but you get the idea.) Let’s just say backend tasks are not my favorite. I’m a designer at heart—I’d much rather be beautifying the layout or sketching more cats than staring at rows of data. But when things need to get done, well, I’m the one who has to do them. Adding this to my growing list of “tasks to outsource one day.”
In brighter news: the Black Friday sale is officially live! 🎉 Thirty percent off everything and free shipping for orders over $100. The free shipping eats into my margins a bit, but hey, it’s the season of giving. I’m pretty sure I did the math right, so I should still make a little profit. (Should. Fingers crossed, because math is also not my favorite.)
Honestly, these parts of running a business—pricing, sales, product indexing—are my least favorite. They’re frustrating and tedious, but they’re also so necessary. And while it’s tempting to put them off, I know that taking care of the backend is what allows me to spend time on the fun stuff later. It’s a balance I’m learning to navigate, one step at a time.
For now, I’ll keep tinkering, keep learning, and keep making notes for Future Me on what to hand off when the time comes. Because when the sales hit the 1,000’s (manifesting hard), I want to focus on what I love—like drawing those cats.
Stay loved, stay patient, and enjoy the sale!
