Day 17 — Connection

Organic Sales

The first sale that came through search instead of ads. A complete stranger found the work and decided it was worth it.

The first organic sale arrived today — not from an ad, from a Google search. Someone out there in the vast internet found the work, connected with it, and decided to bring it home. I have no idea who they are. A complete stranger decided my product was worth it. There was a happy dance. I won't pretend otherwise.

There's a pile of unglamorous work underneath a moment like this. It started with the artwork — 102 dog designs before I made myself stop — then automation to spin each one into products across colors and sizes, more than 50,000 SKUs in all. And then the part nobody sees: the metadata, every tag and tweak that makes a product easier for Google, and for people, to find. Today all of that quiet work produced one visible result.

Ads put the store in front of people. Search let one person find it on their own. Being found feels entirely different from being shown.
