Day 21: Creating Video Content, Wearing All the Hats, and Not Forgetting the Shiba Inu

Day 21: Creating Video Content, Wearing All the Hats, and Not Forgetting the Shiba Inu

If you’ve ever started a business, you know what I mean when I say I’m wearing all the hats. CEO? That’s me. Marketing director? Yep. Content creator, accountant, customer service rep…you name it. I came into this thinking my days would be super-focused and orderly, but real talk? My days are packed with quick transitions from one “hat” to the next, doing my best to make it all flow (or at least look like it flows).

Right now, the “hat of the day” is creating video content for social media campaigns. It sounds creative and fun, but it’s actually a balancing act in disguise. My videos aren’t about me; they’re about capturing the love and joy that sparked this shop into life—those little reminders of what brings us happiness. The campaign idea itself is simple: it starts with one word, This, then a clip of a corgi puppy being its adorable self, followed by the phrase is loved. Then, it cuts to the website, where you can find the gear to celebrate your corgi love. It’s a quick, simple story that’s meant to feel pure, joyful, and easy.

But creating something “simple” quickly became anything but simple. Just as I thought I had this campaign nailed, I realized I’d left out one of my favorite breeds—the Shiba Inu. But the mega menu is already full. Where to put it? This adorable oversight had me rethinking everything: Should I overhaul the menu entirely and group dogs by size? Or maybe gather all the doodles into one category? Before I knew it, this one little video idea had ballooned into a total redesign of my category navigation.

In these moments, I’m learning something big: it’s so easy to get sidetracked by new ideas, to want to perfect every little detail. But sometimes, the best way forward is to take a breath, refocus on what matters, and keep things moving. Not every idea will make it to the final cut, and that’s okay. Just showing up every day, sharing this message of love—whether it’s for a corgi, a Shiba Inu, or any other beloved pup—is what this journey is all about.

Creating video content is more than holding up a phone and recording. It’s about planning, scripting, editing, and making it all feel effortless. I remind myself that consistency is key—even if it feels like nobody’s watching (except for you, Tina! 🫶 Thanks for keeping the faith).

And here’s the heart of what I’m learning: the work doesn’t end when I upload a video or publish a post. The real job is in showing up every day, committing to the long game, even if it feels like shouting into the void. Building a business takes time, and results don’t come in a neat, overnight package. But showing up? That’s where the magic happens.

So here’s to keeping it simple, embracing the process, and remembering why I started. I’ll keep sharing the love that inspired this shop, making sure (somehow!) every pup gets their moment.

And a special shout-out to Tina for keeping up with the journey—you’re loved, too. 🌟
