Meet the Miniature Pinscher
The Min Pin earned its keep for generations as a barn ratter in Germany before fanciers formalized the breed in the 1890s. The first American registrations came around 1919, and the AKC recognized the breed in 1925 — filed, at first, simply as “Pinscher.” It moved to the Toy Group in 1930 and finally took the name Miniature Pinscher in 1972, the paperwork catching up with the dog at last.
