Newfoundland
To a kid, the Newfoundland was furniture, lifeguard, and older sibling in one enormous package. Let them wear the nanny dog: brushed-soft midweight fleece, a double-lined hood for real warmth, and a roomy kangaroo pocket, in a knit that resists pilling through hard use.
Materials
A medium-weight 8.0 oz 50/50 cotton-poly blend — ultra-soft, preshrunk fleece that’s cozy against the skin. A spacious kangaroo pocket keeps hands warm, and a twill-taped neck holds its shape. Regular fit, runs true to size; sizes S–XL.
Care
- Machine wash: warm (max 40C or 105F)

Meet the Newfoundland
The breed took its name and its trade from Newfoundland, where fishermen relied on the big dogs to haul nets, carry lines, and pull overboard sailors out of the North Atlantic. Documented rescues made them famous across the seafaring world, and admirers carried the breed to England, where it was refined and celebrated. The AKC recognized the Newfoundland in 1886, among its earliest breeds.
