Meet the Silken Windhound
Most origin stories in dogs are educated guesses; this one has minutes. Foundation crosses began in the early 1980s, the first recognized litter arrived in Austin in 1985, and the International Silken Windhound Society was chartered in 1999 to keep the records straight. The United Kennel Club granted full recognition on March 18, 2011. The AKC has not yet followed — but for once in dog history, the paperwork is ready.
