Day 16: In the Weeds with Navigation
Share
Today was one of those days where progress had a sidekick: self-doubt. But we made it! Our mega menu is live—and yes, it’s finally browsable by breed. So if you’re here for all things Samoyed, Dachshund, or Golden Retriever, you’ve got a shortcut straight to what you need. It’s simple, straightforward, maybe not flashy, but solid. And as excited as I am, there’s that little voice still whispering, “It’s not perfect.”
I’ve been listening to Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead, and let me tell you, her take on perfectionism is hitting home. Perfectionism, she says, isn’t about striving for excellence—it’s armor, and it keeps us from truly growing. Honestly? I feel that. There’s this voice that wonders, “If it’s not flawless, will people think I don’t know what I’m doing? Am I even a real product designer if my user experience isn’t perfect?” Shopify’s mobile styling limitations mean I’ll have to dive deeper into code (or maybe figure out Figma to Shopify plugins) to bring my vision to life. But listening to Brené reminds me that it’s okay to keep moving forward, even if it’s not perfect yet.
Building this brand, designing every detail, and learning to let go of “perfect” has taught me that real growth isn’t in flawless execution—it’s in the steps we take to get there. So here’s to imperfect progress, to quieting the critic, and to creating something real and meaningful, one step at a time. It might not be perfect today, but it’s progress, and that feels just right.
