Heavyweight Tee

American Staffordshire Terrier

$35

An AmStaff wants one thing, mostly: to be close to its people, preferably touching. A shirt for the leaned-on: substantial 6.0-ounce cotton, garment-dyed after sewing so the color settles into the weave, a wide rib collar, and a fade that deepens with every wash. Built to keep.

The Field Guide

Meet the American Staffordshire Terrier

England’s bull-and-terrier dogs crossed the Atlantic around the 1850s, took names like Yankee Terrier, and were bred taller and heavier for American farm work — catching stock, guarding the homestead, riding along. The AKC recognized the Staffordshire Terrier in 1936; “American” was added in 1972, to settle the paperwork with its smaller English cousin.
