Meet the Giant Schnauzer

Bavarian farmers built the biggest schnauzer to drive cattle; by 1900 the dogs were guarding Munich's breweries, butcher shops, and stockyards. Just before the First World War, the breed came to national attention in Germany as a police dog, a career it never really left. Giants reached America in the 1930s, and the breed's national club formed in 1962.
