Day 18 — Connection

Win It on Wednesday

This week's giveaway barely registered — fewer comments, a faint ripple. On why the ritual stays anyway.

We crowned this week's "Win it on Wednesday" winner today. Somewhere in Connecticut, a package is about to arrive with a soft, very loved tee inside. I like imagining where a giveaway shirt ends up — worn for a movie marathon, or to finally tackle the DIY project, or promoted, eventually, to lucky shirt. No pressure, Connecticut.

The honest accounting: this week's contest didn't set social media on fire. Fewer comments, a few likes, the faintest ripple of enthusiasm. Part of me wonders if the post needed more sparkle. The other part knows plenty of people simply watch quietly — I'm one of them; I have whole conversations with my tea cup before I'm ready for the world.

Here's what I keep coming back to: the giveaway was never really about the winning. It's an invitation into this small corner of the internet, where nothing is required of anyone except being appreciated. By that measure, a handful of participants is a handful of real connections. The numbers say the contest barely registered this week. The package on its way to Connecticut says otherwise.
