Day 19 — The Muse

Creating a New Collection

After the dogs, cats: a new collection in progress, chasing the creatures who carry a bit of hidden magic.

Today was for the new collection — the one I've been itching to start. After all the dogs, cats.

Cats seem to slip in and out of worlds we can't see — perched somewhere between playfulness and ancient wisdom, always just a little out of reach. Natural enigmas. The designs are an attempt to capture that: the unique markings and character of the different breeds, the sleek elegance, the wild independence, the dramatic glance that says I know things you don't.

It's a different energy from Icons, the dog collection, which is built on loyal, lovable devotion — on being loved exactly as you are. This collection is for the creatures who wander through life carrying a bit of hidden magic instead.

What keeps surprising me is how much character is wrapped up in a cat's coat — every stripe, spot, and swirl a mark of individuality. So that's the work right now: sketches and swatches everywhere, trying to coax some small part of that otherworldly energy into fabric. Designing each piece feels a bit like casting a spell. Whether the spell takes, we'll see.
