With their thick coats and gentle eyes, Bernese Mountain Dogs are like giant teddy bears in canine form. They’re loving, loyal, and wonderful with kids, making them perfect family dogs. These dogs have a gentle, calming presence that’s as comforting as a cozy fire on a snowy day.
Materials
A lightweight 4.2 oz 100% Airlume combed, ring-spun cotton jersey — finely knit, smooth, and gentle on small skin. Side seams give it a proper shape, and a tear-away label keeps it comfortable. Solid colors are 100% cotton; sizes 2T–5T.

Meet the Bernese Mountain Dog
Mastiff-type dogs came over the Alps with Roman soldiers two thousand years ago and stayed to become Switzerland’s farm generalists. By the 1890s the old type was fading, and a breeder named Franz Schertenleib began scouring the countryside for good examples; a breed club followed in 1907. The first Berners reached America in 1926, imported by a Kansas farmer, and the AKC recognized the breed in 1937.
