Winter is the Akita's season; you are merely invited. Dress for the invitation: medium-weight US cotton, easy to layer, 1×1 ribbed collar and cuffs that stretch on and settle back, a double-needle hem, and a shirt that turns softer with every wash and every composed cold morning.
Materials
Medium-weight 6.0 oz 100% US cotton in an easy, classic tubular fit. A 1x1 ribbed collar and cuffs stretch and recover, taped neck and shoulders hold their shape, and a double-needle hem wears well. Sizes S–2XL.

Meet the Akita
The Akita comes from the mountains of Akita Prefecture in northern Japan, where Matagi hunters used powerful dogs to track and hold bear, boar, and serow. The breed nearly vanished during the Second World War, then came to America with returning servicemen, whose enthusiasm built the American line. The AKC granted full recognition in 1972, in the Working Group.
